The National Forest Company

About

The National Forest Company leads one of the most ambitious and inspiring environmental regeneration projects in the UK. Established to create and champion the National Forest, they are transforming 200 square miles of the Midlands through the power of trees, people, and nature.

Since the early 1990s, over nine million trees have been planted, turning a once heavily industrialised landscape into a thriving, green destination rich in wildlife, woodland, and opportunity. Their work goes beyond tree planting: they bring communities, businesses, and landowners together to create sustainable change, support biodiversity, and promote wellbeing through access to nature.

The National Forest is now a place where people and the environment grow together. From tackling climate change and supporting sustainable tourism to inspiring outdoor learning and improving local livelihoods, they are building a greener, healthier future for generations to come.

Mission

The National Forest is a living, breathing demonstration of sustainability in action. We’re creating a forest environment that is high in nature, promotes positive wellbeing and is home to a low carbon economy. Across our 200 square miles, we are creating real change, in a real place for generations to come.

Vision

Our vision is for the National Forest to act as a model of sustainability that can be replicated, extended and inspire others. This is happening through our national research and development, working with partners to connect and expand woodlands using the Midlands Forest Network and the creation of a new Forest for the Nation with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
